Dr. Salerno is the director of the Healthy Aging after Cancer Laboratory. She is a biobehavioral scientist interested in the determinants and outcomes of physical activity behavior at the intersection of aging and cancer, specifically as it pertains to cognitive, psychological, and physical function. Dr. Salerno is also a strong advocate for the implementation of lifestyle behaviors into the standard of cancer care beginning at the time of diagnosis.
Julianna Fassas is a research specialist in the Healthy Aging after Cancer Laboratory. She has a background in research coordination and holds a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology. She is interested in utilizing mixed-methods research in addition to applying her knowledge of research coordination and epidemiologic methods to support the healthy aging of individuals with cancer.
Rachel Hawn is a postdoctoral trainee in the Healthy Aging after Cancer Laboratory. Her program of research focuses on improving long-term and late effects of cancer and its treatment in survivors of cancer through symptom management and facilitating healthy lifestyle behaviors. She is interested in the relationship between symptoms and physical activity behaviors among survivors of cancer, particularly among those diagnosed as adolescents or young adults.
